MOSSI AZIENDE AGRICOLE VITIVINICOLE SRL SOC. AGR.

http://www.mossi1558.com

Mossi Winery boasts centuries of history: it has been producing wine at least since 1558. It is located on the Piacenza hills, in Emilia-Romagna, where it looks after 75 ha of vines, producing 450.000 bottles per year.
Its focus is on traditional varieties from the territory, producing white wines made with Ortrugo and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, and red wines made with Barbera and Croatina (Bonarda). Mossi 1558 also takes care of a little treasure: Malvasia Rosa, a spontaneous mutation of Malvasia di Candia Aromatica that is produced only by 3 wineries in the world. Now the Winery is led by Marco Profumo, who’s also the President of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Doc Colli Piacentini. He is renovating the Winery and continuing the collaboration of the Winery with the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Piacenza. For example, the Department of Enology is studying grapes able to cope with climate change, some of which are preserved in Mossi's experimental vineyard, where more than 20 local varieties are kept. Mossi Winery is already working with large-scale distribution in Italy and it hopes to do so also abroad.
