Lecci e Brocchi winery is located in the south of Chianti Classico in Castelnuovo Berardenga near Siena and was born in 1970 when Vasco Lastrucci called “IL CHIORBA” decided to buy the farm next to the town of Villa a Sesta from the priest; The name of Lecci e Brocchi can have different interpretations: il Brocco is the trunk, the wooden stub that remains when a tree is cut, but also the name that is used to give, in Siena, a horse that is not able to run the Palio. In addition, in the square of Villa a Sesta, where the company is located, there is a statue of a horse. Lecci are spontaneous plants that grow in the vineyard
Vasco believed that this red, stony and mineral rich-soil could be very suitable for the cultivation of vines and began to plant the first small plots. The results after the first time, in fact, were exciting and the wine obtained was rich in aromas that in the mouth were even more exalted. The other plots of vineyards are then created.
This particular and rare "terroir" belongs today to only 2 wineries in the whole territory of Chianti Classico: one of these is Lecci and Brocchi.
The winery is about 10 hectares in total (including 4 hectares of vineyards), the remaining hectares are made up of forest and olive groves, as well as wine, extra-virgin olive oil is our production (by cold mechanical pressing of olives) from the cultivars Moraiolo, Coreggiolo and Frantoio, is characterized by the same fruity and tasty characteristics.
Until 2009, Chianti Classico was sold in cistern to the most famous names of the wine production of this great DOCG.
From that moment on, an era closed and another one opened. Unfortunately, Vasco became seriously ill and Sabrina, together with her husband Giancarlo, with great courage, supported by her mother and encouraged by her young son Giovanni, (who "as a grown-up" wants to be a winemaker, in fact is studying Viticulture and Enology), took the leadership of the company. They decided not to sell the wines in cistern anymore, but to bottle it with their brand and to care with passion the vineyard and the winery (about 25 thousand bottles produced), producing Chianti Classico DOCG since 2012.
